Two holdings found in OCLC: Northwestern University Library and the National Library of Israel. On this record the place of publication is given as England. DeWitt & Snelling was a bookseller and occasional-publisher in Oakland California. The company was owned by James F. Snelling and Frederic M. DeWitt. The New York Public has a group of catalogues running from 1905-1913. From the ÒNoteÓ at the beginning of the volume: ÒIn 1893 Mr. Willliam Townsend Mr. George Townsend and I contracted with the Syria Ottoman Railway Co of London to build a railway from Acre and Haifa on the Mediterranean coast to Damascus. During a trip made to Syria with Mr. George Townsend the following letters were written." Very colorful and evocative descriptions of life and scenery of the region.
