br. La storia della corazzata Potemkin e dell'ammutinamento dei suoi marinai, immortalata da uno dei più noti film di Eisenstein, è in realtà molto più complessa e interessante di quanto illustrato nella pellicola. Molti dei marinai implicati nell'ammutinamento ebbero dei ruoli significativi nelle successive rivolte antizariste in Russia, fino alla Rivoluzione Sovietica e oltre. La nave stessa partecipò alla Prima guerra mondiale e si unì poi alle forze bolsceviche. Fu irreparabilmente danneggiata dalle forze controrivoluzionarie e smantellata nel 1925, proprio alla vigilia dell'uscita del film che l'avrebbe resa celebre in tutto il mondo.
