Sabin 1669 (Ausg. 1742). - "Das geistvolle der Ausführung entschädigt für den Mangel an Originalität ... Die Geschichte ist diese: ebenfalls vom Cap der Guten Hoffnung wird sein Held, der holländische Fregattencapitan Anterson durch Stürme verschlagen. Die Insel, die er auffindet heisst das Land der Ruhe. Es wird von einem hochcivilisierten Volk bewohnt, welches sogar eine der holländischen ähnliche Sprache redet. Von den Einwohnern aufs gastfreiste empfangen, werden die Seefahrer alsbald zu dem Könige geführt und geniessen volle 3 Jahre lang die Freundschaft des edlen Monarchen. Inzwischen findet der glückliche Entdecker, Zeit sich mit dem Charakter des Landes, mit seinen Erzeugnissen, mit dem Volke, seinen Sitten, seiner Religion und Verfassung auf das genaueste vertraut zu machen. Die Erzählung gipfelt in der Herstellung eines Handelsvertrags, den der Capitain zu Gunsten seines vaterlandes mit dem von ihm aufs höchste entzückten König abschliesst. (W. Interessant ist eine Entschädigungsliste in holländischen Gulden von 1672, für die beim Schiffskampf verlorengegangenen Gliedmaßen (S. 15). - Titel mit alten hs. Vermerken. Durchgehend etw. gebräunt und fleckig.‎

Relié plein veau époque, dos à nerfs ornés avec pièce de titre et tomaison, tranches rouges, charnières frottées, début de fente (tome 1), coiffes usées, petit manque de cuir au dos, mouillure au tome 3, traces de restauration, manque la grande carte mais la carte de Ceylan est bien présente.‎

‎Édition originale de la traduction française, il contient également des éléments relatifs à Sir Francis Drake, ainsi qu'à 'histoire de l'exploration espagnole et portugaise aux Indes. " Contient entre autres des cartes des Moluques, de Ceylan et de Java. La présente traduction est considérée comme plus importante que l’édition espagnole de 1609 en raison du grand nombre de données supplémentaires fournies par le traducteur "Écrit dans un style charmant (...) L'auteur a eu accès à tous les documents des archives. (...) Les éditions françaises contiennent beaucoup plus de matière que l'originale, car elles sont considérablement annotées. La plus grande partie du volume traite des Moluques et donne une grande partie de l'histoire ancienne de ces îles. Une place considérable est cependant consacrée aux Philippines (...)". (Robertson), le troisième tome est consacré aux conquêtes des hollandais dans la région. Translated into French from the original Spanish early edition about the conquest of what later became known as the Philippines. 3 frontispieces, 1 portrait and 30 (32) plates and maps. The book contains matter relating to Sir Francis Drake and American voyages, and to the history of Spanish and Portuguese exploration in the Indies." Contains i.a. maps of the Moluccas, Ceylon and Java. The present translation is considered more important than the Spanish edition of 1609 because of the large number of extra data supplied by the translator. "Written in a charming style (...) The author had access to all the documents of the archives. (...) The French editions contain much more matter than the original, as they are considerably annotated.
