Umschlag etwas berieben. - Dieses Buch befaßt sich mit einem typischen Kommunikationsmedium der Volksrepublik China: der Bildpropaganda aus den Jahren 1978-1987, die an den ideologischen Rahmenricht-linien für die "Vier Modernisierungen" ausgerichtet war. Statt braungebrannter muskulöser Arbeiter standen nun westliche Symbole für Fortschritt und Entwicklung im Vordergrund: Hochgeschwindigkeitszüge, Raumfähren, Hochhäuser, Autobahnnetze und Bilder allgemeinen Wohlstands. Die "Vier Modernisierungen" gingen auf einen Beschluß zurück, den das Zentralkomitee der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas (KPCh) Im Dezember 1978 auf Initiative Deng Xiaopings gefaßt hatte. Dieser hatte die umfassende Modernisierung von Landwirtschaft, Industrie, Landesverteidigung, Wissenschaft und Technik zum Ziel. Niemand ahnte damals, daß er einer zweiten Revolution den Weg bereiten würde, die China und die gesamte chinesische Gesellschaft unwiderruflich verändern sollte. Der Schwerpunkt dieser Abhandlung liegt auf der Analyse einer Sammlung von etwa 1000 Drucken, die in hohen Auflagen nach Gouachen, Ölgemälden, Aquarellen, Tuschezeichnungen und Holzschnitten angefertigt wurden und zum Endverbrauch in den Haushalten bestimmt waren. Der Autor zeichnet die Entwicklung von Stil und Inhalt der chinesischen Plakatkunst im Zeitalter der Reformen nach, von den Ursprüngen in der Kaiserzeit bis zur modernen politischen Agitation. ?
