Based on the nonexistence of an archaeological inventory of Anatolia and Turkish Thrace, TAY Project was launched in 1992 by scholars from Istanbul University, Durham University, and the French Institute of Anatolian Studies at Istanbul. Aiming at documenting the known and unknown cultural heritage of Turkey, thence protecting it, the team went all around the country region by region. As a result binders have been prepared and their format has been designed to facilitate updating. Sites are given in alphabetical order and the volume is finished with a bibliography and a map of Turkey showing all the sites. By the end of 2002, 4 volumes (A4 size) covering from Paleolithic through Early Bronze Age have been completed and presented to the world of science.

A comprehensive inventory of educator, historian, and numismatics specialist Pierre Willemart's unique collection, donated to Suna and Inan Kiraç Foundation and comprising numerous coins of states on the Eurasian belt ranging from Macedonia to China and extending from 5th century B.C. to date. Apart from identification and description of coins, it also offers a pleasant journey from ancient times to the present. Il s'agit là d'un veritable travail de catalogage realise à partir de la collection de monnaies dont Madame Helene Willemart a fait don à la fondation Suna-Inan Kirac et qui compte pas moins de 553 pieces et trois cachets. Ces monnaies recouvrent une large zone geographique, qui s'etend de la Macedoine jusqu'en Chine, et sont reparties chronologiquement du 5eme siecle avant J.-C. jusqu'à nos jours. Autrement dit, il s'agit là d'une compilation de monnaies emises à peu pres dans toutes les regions du monde et sur une periode d'environ 2500 ans. En parcourant ce catalogue, outre les informations sur les monnaies qu'il peut y trouver, le lecteur est ainsi convie à un authentique et agreable voyage dans le temps et l'histoire, depuis les annees qui precedent 1ere chretienne jusqu'à nos jours. En effet, on ne peut pas reduire les monnaies à un simple moyen de paiement, mais on doit bien les considerer d'avantage comme d'importantes sources de renseignements sur la vie politique, sociale, culturelle et religieuse de l'epoque quand elles ont ete emises grace notamment aux inscriptions et aux representations qu'elles portent. C'est la raison pour laquelle je pense que l'on peut veritablement envisager ce catalogue comme un bon guide pour une lecture de "l'histoire du inonde" à partir des monnaies. Le catalogue regroupe au total 553 monnaies, parmi lesquelles 373 non-islamiques et 157 islamiques. En d'autres termes, Ses monnaies non-islamiques representent 68%, et les islamiques 28% du nombre total des monnaies du catalogue. 23 (4%) autres monnaies restent indeterminees, mais on s'est efforce de les decrire autant que possible; ce sont en majorite des monnaies islamiques et elles ont ete ajoutees à la fin du catalogue. The aim of this book is to present a brief overview of archaeological and historical research on Caria from the very first signs of occupation in the Prehistoric times to the Late Ottoman period. The region occupied by ancient Caria can roughly be described as the southwestern portion of the Anatolian peninsula South of the Menderes Valley and west of the Dalaman River. The Carians are mentioned several times in the 2nd millennium BCE for having supported the fight of Anatolian nations against the Hittite invaders and later to have fought beside the Hittite kings against the Egyptian forces. They were also counted amongst the legendary Sea People, traveling the Mediterranean, spreading destruction on their path and bringing down some of the most powerful empires of the Late Bronze Age. Later, Homer mentions them in the list of allies who came and supported Troy against the Greeks, emphasizing the wealth of the Carians, who "came to fight decked like a girl with gold".

This volume brings together 27 papers presented at the 'Rencontres d'Archéologie de l'IFEA' devoted to the 'early' periods of a region of southwest Asia Minor: Caria. Several recent studies have significantly advanced Carian studies, but these have been limited to chronological fields from the Hekatomnids to the end of the Roman Empire. It has therefore seemed useful to propose around a symposium and its publication a state of knowledge for periods prior to the Hekatomnids by offering both archaeologists to present unpublished archaeological material, resulting from recent (often rescue) excavations, and historians to expose their latest reflections based on material already known but reassessed in the light of new discoveries. "Pera Museum in collaboration with the Amsterdam Museum is organizing an exhibition exploring the commencement of four hundred years of fruitful cooperation between Turkey and the Netherlands. It was on 14 March 1612 during the ruling of the Ottoman Empire that the first Ambassador of Dutch Republic, Cornelis Haga, arrived in Constantinople. The year 2012 marks the four hundredth year of this diplomatic relations. In collaboration with several other leading partners, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Nationaal Archief in The Hague and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the exhibition aims to spread knowledge about historical and contemporary links between Amsterdam and Istanbul. The exhibition explores the historical and contemporary relations between two world cities and through these cities, implicitly also the two countries. 'Pioneers' and 'image (-forming)' are among the prominent themes. The exhibition is not intended as a complete survey of four centuries of diplomatic ties, but rather provides an attractive insight into the historical ties between Amsterdam and Istanbul, from 1612 to the present day. The exhibition is historical and social in approach, yet it also features important art works as well. A key section of the exhibition is a reconstruction of the Levantse Handel (Levant Trade) chamber that was based in the Town Hall (Palace on Dam Square) from the early 17th to early 19th century. A detailed inventory exists of the paintings and charts that were displayed on the walls of this powerful commercial office in Amsterdam. Many of these items, including an extensive series of portraits by Vanmour, from the collection of Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum will also be exhibited".
