Ad acuire l'allarme c'è il fatto che l'IS è catalizzatore di fedeli musulmani europei presenti sul nostro territorio ed ha inoltre soldi e ambizioni di espansione globale che nessuno prima ha avuto. Non va quindi minimizzato il senso di questa minaccia per gli indicatori così rimarchevoli che inducono a tenere alta l'attenzione. Questo problema rappresenta per noi una sfida senza precedenti E mentre Europa ed USA continuano a baloccarsi con sofisticati interventi volti a soddisfare l'opinione pubblica più che a raggiungere risultati strategici concreti, il califfato islamico dilaga nel nord dell'Iraq e si allunga sulla Mezzaluna Fertile e in Siria allargando sempre più il cordone islamico sunnita dal Golfo Persico al Mar Mediterraneo e modificando giorno dopo giorno la carta geopolitica del Medio Oriente.

A collection of three 19th-Century Photographs of the Mosque of Omar Umayyad and of "Prophet Mahomed's Family Tomb." Overall image size is 8.5" x 11." The image on the left shows the inside court and buildings of The Umayyad Mosque also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus in Syria one of the largest mosques in the world. It is considered by some Muslims to be the fourth-holiest place in Islam and is one of the oldest mosques in the world. The image is titled "Damas - Court de la grande Mosque." Circa 1880s. The center image is an albumen photograph of the interior of the Mosque of Omar Dome of the Rock and the Foundation Stone in Jerusalem. The foundation stone is in the foreground with the intricately decorated architecture of the dome in the background. In the Muslim faith the Dome of the Rock is the site of the Islamic miracle of the Isra and Miraj. The final image shows the Bab al-Saghir cemetery in Damascus Syria where lie the graves of many relatives of Muhammad. A large mosque is visible on the horizon. This image is titled "Damas - Tombeaue de la familile de Mahomed." Damascus - Tomb of the Family of Mohammed. Circa 1880s. A One-inch tear has been skillfully repaired. (come da Indici) così composte: 31 tavole (di cui 23 a doppia pagina e a volte anche ripieg.) che illustrano bellissime vedute delle più importanti località (tra cui Damasco, Aleppo, Tripoli, Jaffa, Rama, etc.), la storia, gli usi e i costumi dei Siriani e dei Palestinesi e 8 grandi carte geografiche + 34 preziose vignette, sempre inc. in rame, nel t. La città di Gerusalemme è raffigurata anche in un magnifico panorama a volo d’uccello, più volte ripieg. Rara "prima edizione" tedesca di questa famosa opera sul Medio Oriente, scritta dapprima in lingua olandese nel 1677; l’edizione tedesca fu tradotta e pubblicata da Jacob von Meursen, autore anche delle incisioni in rame che la illustrano. Cfr. Tooley’s Dictionary of Mapmakers, p. 147 - Graesse,II, 335. "Olivier Dapper (1636-1689), médecin hollandais, joignit à la pratique de son art l'étude de l'histoire et surtout de la géographie. Il recueillit tout ce qui pouvait faire connaitre les pays étrangers, et composa des descriptions très étendues et très intéressantes. Il orna ses ouvrages de cartes et de figures nombreuses. Les planches, bien dessinées et gravées avec soin, représentent avec assez de fidelité les lieux les plus importants et les usages des habitants.
