‎Édition originale française. L'ouvrage est divisé en deux parties : la première comprend le Journal d'Hasselquist et les lettres qu'il écrivit d'Orient à Linné ; dans la seconde, on trouve les observations concernant l'histoire naturelle, les maladies et la médecine des orientaux. Hasselquist était l'un des étudiants de Linné qui voyageaient outre-mer pour enquêter sur les plantes de régions inexplorées, en l'occurrence la Palestine, la Syrie, Chypre, Rhodes et Chios. L'auteur mourut à Smyrne en 1752, à l'âge de 30 ans, et son ouvrage fut publié à titre posthume par Linné qui le décrit comme étant plein d'observations fraîches, authentiques et précises : « Un journal de voyage aussi admirable n'a jamais paru auparavant. » M2-Et4‎

‎Basle: H. Petri 1549. CONTEMPORARY DARK CALF neatly restored blind-ruled frames gilt corner fleurons gilt flowers and stars in the center gilt stars on the spine. ANNOTATED THROUGHOUT BY JACQUES-AUGUSTE DE THOU AT AGE TWENTY. He 1553-1617 acquired this copy in 1573 a transitional year spent in Paris between his legal studies and his Italian travels.  Among the earliest purchases he made for his library this book offered a template for his life's work A History of His Own Times 1604-9: "an unsurpassable model.the heir of ancient historiography" DLLF tr. It covers the sixty-four years from 1543 to 1607 marked by unrest and civil war in France.  Herodian a Roman historian who wrote in Greek also chose a tumultuous period - the fifty-eight years from 180 to 238. He recounts the reigns of seventeen Emperors many assassinated. Both men were eye witnesses to some of the events they record.  DE THOU MARKED UP THE GREEK TEXT ON EVERY PAGE underscoring words and passages as mnemonics and glossing the margins with citations to secondary sources. These reveal his reading habits his developing sense of historical method comparing differing accounts of the same events and the books he had to hand while reading Herodian whom de Thou credits with informing his views History Book LXVII.  This copy passed with the rest of de Thou's library to his heirs Catalogus 1704 I: 292 the marquis de Ménars Cardinal Gaston de Rohan 1674-1749 and Charles de Rohan prince de Soubise 1715-87; characteristic manuscript shelf mark appears at the top of the front pastedown; signatures of Maurice Desbirons dated 1965. ¶Hoffmann Bibliographisches Lexicon der.Litteratur der Griechen II: 222; Dictionnaire des littératures de la langue française IV: 2469; VD 16 H 249. The reflections of the humanitarian crisis in Syria since 2011 have been experienced all over the world in different ways. In this sense, Turkey¿s experience has gathered a lot of attention as well. Thanks to its open door policy, Turkey has become the country hosting the highest number of refugees in the world and has created a living space for millions of Syrians. According to official figures, Turkey hosts 2,724,927 Syrians and thus takes the burden of the humanitarian crisis on its shoulders. Each Syrian is important for Turkey, as is their adaptation to Turkish public life. The most crucial elements of orientation towards public life are education and employment. With respect to employment, Turkey has taken considerable steps. In addition to this, the education of Syrian children requires a road map so as not to create lost generations for the future of Turkey and Syria. The NGOs in Turkey have taken great responsibility for the education of Syrians and play an important role in offering advice for the Ministry of National Education¿s (MEB) road map. However, only one in three Syrian children is schooled ¿ this is evidence that the NGO-based short-term solutions are not enough and long-term public policymaking is required. From the first years of the crisis in Syria, the SETA Foundation has been supporting the policymaking process especially in terms of educating Syrians, aiding their legal status and their adaptation to public life. The SETA Foundation is especially sensitive on the issue of Syrians¿ education and in this study aims to contribute to developing a road map on Syrians¿ education and to work against the creation of lost generations.‎
