A promotional postcard for the boxing match/title fight between Muhammad Ali and Leon Spinks. The postcard has an illustration of Leon Spinks jabbing butterfly net in hand. Two smaller images of Muhammad Ali fly around Spinks one depicting Ali as a butterfly the other as a bee. The boxing match occurred on February 15 1978 with Spinks having won a gold medal in the 1976 Olympics billed as the underdog. Spinks won a split decision making him the Heavyweight Champion and the only boxer to take the title away from Ali in the ring. GOOD condition. Heavy uneven toning with some creasing and soiling. Harold Stassen ran many times as a Republican candidate never receiving his party's nomination; Walter Mondale served as Vice-President from 1977-81 and ran against Ronald Reagan in 1984; Hubert Humphrey served as Vice-President from 1965-69 and ran against Richard Nixon in 1968; Eugene McCarthy is perhaps best known for his 1968 presidential run where he gained some success running as an anti-war candidate opposed to Johnson's handling of the Vietnam War. Manufacturers include Auburn Apperson Chevrolet Durant Haynes Dodge Studebaker Olds Nash Pierce-Arrow etc. Perhaps of note are four pages of electric vehicles including cars and commercial vehicles made by Rauch and Lang Autocar and Ward Motor Vehicle Company. While electric cars had been around since the late 1800s their use declined by 1920 due to innovations in gasoline power car design and discovery of vast amounts of oil rendering them all but obsolete by the early to mid 1920s. ‎No Place: No Publisher. Unbound. Fair. Handwritten letter detailing the medical procedures undertaken to heal an 'ununited fracture of the humerus.' No author date or location although dates in the text indicate the treatment took place around 1851-1852 perhaps in Massachusetts. Single sheet folded into four pages all full of writing. The author documents his encounter with a 28 year old male who had broken his humerus in a carriage fall. It had not healed correctly despite attempts by other doctors. The doctor/author of this letter recalls his efforts to reset the bones including removing callouses and other treatments that eventually led to an apparent somewhat successful outcome. FAIR/GOOD condition. A one by two inch area of loss present at the upper left corner resulting in small amounts of MISSING text in that location on the first two pages. Dark browning present in this area with other small spots of browning and staining to the paper. Small hole at the center fore edge with a few letters missing because of this. Another tiny hole present in the last page. Horizontal fold creases present. A few tiny tears along the extremities. Light fading. No Publisher unknown‎

Paper wrappers with a sewn binding. Rear cover has a list of the various series of books Rufus Merrill publishes. A description of Native Americans in a somewhat flattering light mentioning their noted hospitality and kindness humoruous anecdotes regarding their interactions with American leaders during the Revolutionary War a brief description of their life in wigwams mention of the chief Red Jacket and a picture of the Oregon Native Americans. VERY GOOD condition with some darkening to the covers. Small number 2 in pencil near the title on the front cover. Light edgewear. The first letters of the last two lines of text on the rear cover missing apparently part of the printing process. Inner text is clean and solid with a miniscule tear to the top corner of page 11 some darkening and some pages with text/illustration printed crooked on the pages. Previous owner's signature David Crockett on the inside front cover. Nice copy of this juvenile work with attractive covers and interior and very little wear associated with use by children. With a stated circulation of 50880. Fifth issue of this small magazine issued by the Kukla Fran and Ollie Show essentially an early fanzine for fans of the show. The Kuklapolitan Courier began in 1948 increasing in circulation until 1950 when it changed to a book format and was issued as a yearbook. Kukla Fran and Ollie was ostensibly a television show for children created by Burr Tilllstrom in 1947. It involved puppets interacting with a woman Fran. Using subtle humor based on the characters of the show Kukla Fran and Ollie became more of a hit with adults and ran in various formats from 1947 to 1957. This issue of the Courier celebrates the show going national behind the scenes photos and a subtle advertisement for RCA one of the show's sponsors. GOOD condition. Horizontal fold crease present.
