The song consists of 10 six-line stanzas written on four numbered sheets with as title at the head of the first sheet Les cascades de Cernay and as subtitle: chanson. The song is like an ode to nature: ""Le site est un morceau de roi : En regardant autour de soi On ne voit que verdure et qu'ombre : Rochers gris et roseaux ; On n'entend que le chant des eaux A l'entour du criquet qui sombre."" Remarkable and fresh refrain composed by the founder of the League of Patriots who was the bard of French nationalism of the late 19th century all to the glory of Mother Nature unknown
