Appendices list Irish reprints of works by Fielding Smollett Stern Johnson Boswell Goldsmith and Gibbon. From the preface: "The thesis of the present study is that Irish booksellers through cheap reprints disseminated the works of the major British writers of their time and augmented the audience for these writers not only in Ireland but in Britain and the United States of America. The circulation in America of Irish reprints of these writers was enhanced by the transfer of at least 101 members of the book trade from Ireland to the American book trade between 1750 and 1820.
