Edizione originale del Commento del Clavio a Sphericae (Sphairikon biblia III), l'opera di Teodosio Triopolita (di Bitinia). Clavio non solo spiega compiutamente i tre libri della teoria della sfera dello scienziato tripolita, con sue nuove dimostrazioni e con laggiunta di numerosi scolii, ed espone anche una sua teoria completa della trigonometria piana e sferica.

Feliciano Scarpellini (Foligno 1762 - Roma 1840), astronomo, direttore dell'osservatorio Caetani in via delle Botteghe Oscure a Roma, insegnò fisica sacra e astronomia all'università pontificia. Fu tra i rinnovatori dell'Accademia dei Lincei e nel 1827 fondò l’Osservatorio del Campidoglio. Tra i numerosi strumenti scientifici e macchinari tecnici da lui costruiti vi fu la “macchina idraulica per estinguere gli incendj” che era stata ideata dallo zio Piermarini. La messa in opera di questo strumento portò all’istituzione del Corpo dei Vigili del Fuoco in Roma.

Pierre Trémaux (1818-1895) architecte, voyageur et scientifique a donné de nombreux ouvrages dans des domaines très divers. Ses théories sur l’évolution et l’origine de l’Homme qui ont paru à la suite de cet ouvrage dans la série du Principe universel ont donné lieu à de nombreux commentaires, notamment de la part de K. Marx et F. Engels, ou encore du paléontologue et historien des sciences S. Jay Gould qui lui consacre un long article.
