Dentelles interne, sguardie marmorizzate e tagli in oro. Esemplare genuino e ben conservato con solo qualche leggera fioritura alle carte centrali. Copia appartenuta al celebre astronomo e matematico tedesco Joachim Otto Fleckenstein (1914-1980) di cui appare il timbro di possesso alla prima carta bianca ed al frontespizio. Si tratta della seconda edizione, di molto ampliata rispetto all'originale apparso nel 1732 e che, rispetto a quest'ultimo, presenta molti passaggi originali. In quest'opera Maupertuis intervenne per la prima volta sul problema della struttura della terra sostenendo, d'accordo con la visione meccanica newtoniana, che essa e tutti gli altri corpi celesti, fosse appiattita ai poli. brossura Nella sua presentazione Elio Antonello, presidente della Società Italiana di Astronomia, mette in evidenza «l'importanza dell'osservazione del cielo quale sistema calendariale per l'agricoltura, un sistema che aveva bisogno di un punto di riferimento fisso, definito da uno dei solstizi, da cui iniziare il conto dei giorni dell'anno». Si può quindi presumere - continua - che ogni comunità preistorica in Sicilia avesse un suo proprio "calendario". Da queste premesse prende avvio lo studio degli autori nel campo totalmente inesplorato dell'archeoastronomia siciliana, che li porterà a visitare significativi luoghi- simbolo per l'analisi dei manufatti e la raccolta delle testimonianze, in un cammino di ricerca preciso e appassionante che riserverà molte sorprese. In queste pagine, come suggerisce l'archeologo Jeremy Johns, prende corpo «l'attraente ipotesi in crescente aumento formulata dagli autori: e cioè che sembra esserci un numero veramente stupefacente di siti, sparsi per tutta l'isola, dove gli abitanti preistorici della Sicilia adattarono emergenze naturali del paesaggio per celebrare e annodare il legame fra il cielo e la terra su cui essi vivevano».

The Fokker–Planck equation arises in a wide variety of natural science, including solid-state physics, quantum optics, chemical physics, theoretical biology and circuit theory.
