‎First printing of Clebsch's paper in which the Frobenius theorem was introduced.Despite being named after Ferdinand Georg Frobenius, the theorem was first proven by Alfred Clebsch and Feodor Deahna. ‎First printing of one of Clifford's papers in geometry.""William Clifford (1845-1879) was an important mathematician of his day. He is most remembered today for his invention of Clifford algebras, which are fundamental in modern differential geometry and mathematical physics. His ideas on the connection between energy and matter and the curvature of space were important in the eventual formulation of general relativity. Clifford was particularly interested in non-Euclidean geometry. However, in his relatively brief career, he made contributions to diverse fields of mathematics: elliptic functions, Riemann surfaces, biquaternions, motion in Euclidean and non-Euclidean space, spaces of constant curvature, syzygies, and so on.""‎

‎(London, Harrison and Sons, 1880). 4to. No wrappers as extracted from ""Philosophical Transactions"" 1878 - Vol. 169 - Part II. Pp. 663-681.‎

‎First printing of this paper on ""Clifford-Spaces"" is considered a classich in mathematics, - being a general study of curves it is an introduction to the study of n-dimensional space.Clifford, along with Hermann Grassmann, invented what is now termed geometric algebra, a special case being the Clifford algebras named in his honor, which are used in contemporary mathematical physics. He was the first to suggest that gravitation might be a manifestation of an underlying geometrical structure of the universe, and contributed the advancement of non-Euclidean geometry developed by Bernhard Riemann and Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky. In his philosophical writings he coined the expression ""mind-stuff"". Clifford argued that energy and matter are simply different types of curvature of space. These ideas later played a fundamental role in Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity.‎

‎First edition of Cotes’ important posthumously published work. Roger Cotes (1682-1716) published only one scientific paper in his lifetime, and the present work thus constitutes the earliest and main record of his mathematical achievements. According to Augustus de Morgan, this is 'the earliest work in which decisiveness progress was made in the application of logarithms and of the properties of the circle of the calculus of fluents'"" it includes the first version of the Newton-Cotes formulas, the first introduction of Euler's formula, and the 'Cotes' theorum' of trigonometry. Furthermore, it contains the “Earliest attempt to frame a theory of errors.” (Jungnickel, Cavendish: The Experimental Life, p. 150). Roger Cotes (1682–1716), much respected in his own right, is also known for working closely with Isaac Newton by proofreading the second edition of his famous book, the Principia, before publication. He became the first Plumian Professor at Cambridge University from 1707 until his death. When Cotes died Cambridge in 1716 at the early age of 33 Isaac Newton famously remarked, ""If he had lived we would have known something."" ‎Large collection of offprints by British statistician David Cox who made pioneering and important contributions to numerous areas of statistics and applied probability, of which the best known is perhaps the proportional hazards model, which is widely used in the analysis of survival data. An example is survival times in medical research that can be related to information about the patients such as age, diet or exposure to certain chemical substances. The Cox process was named after him.‎

‎Leipzig, B.G. Teubner, 1897. 8vo. Original printed wrappers, no backstrip. In ""Mathematische Annalen. 48. Band. 4. Heft."" Entire issue offered. Minor soiling to back wrapper, internally fine and clean. [Dedekind:] Pp. 548-61. [Entire issue: 433-606, (2) pp.].‎

‎First printing of Dedekind groups, named named after Richard Dedekind, who investigated them in proving a form of the above structure theorem (for finite groups). He named the non-abelian ones after William Rowan Hamilton, the discoverer of quaternions. In group theory, a Dedekind group is a group G such that every subgroup of G is normal. All abelian groups are Dedekind groups. A non-abelian Dedekind group is called a Hamiltonian group‎

‎First appearance of these papers in which Deming exposed his techniques of increasing production processes based on Shewart's methods of quality control. A number of Japanese manufacturers applied his techniques widely and experienced heretofore unheard-of levels of quality and productivity. The improved quality combined with the lowered cost created new international demand for Japanese products.""In 1950, W. Edwards Deming, at the request of the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, give a series of lectures in Japan on Shewhart’s statistical quality control of industrial processes. These lectures were the catalyst that gave birth to Japan’s industrial efficiency and emphasis on highest attainable quality of manufactured products."" (DSB)..‎

‎First printing of these two important papers on gravitational interaction from bodies, such pseudo-rigid bodies, thereby ""opened a new direction"", a direction which later inspired Riemann to turn his attention to the problem""Without the gravitational interaction from another body, such pseudo-rigid bodies havereceived attention in many references. The interest was initiated by Newton in Principia, where he showed that a spinning axi-symmetric self-gravitating body of ?uid that is rotating slowly about the symmetry axis will be oblate. Jacobi in 1834 extended the work of Newton, but also work of Maclaurin, to show that a self-gravitating ?uid also can take on ellipsoidal shapes. The solutions of Jacobi, Maclaurin and Newton were, however, still all rigid. In a frame rotating with the body the ?uid is stationary. Dirichlet and Dedekin, [in the present two papers], respectively, opened a new direction when they found a symmetry that applied to Jacobi's solution generated a new solution in which the body isstationary in shape but the ?uid particles follow elliptical paths in planes orthogonal to a principle axis of the ellipsoid. Dirichlet's paper inspired Riemann to turn his attention to the problem. He gave a classi?cation of the solutions of Dirichlet's equations for which the ellipsoidal shape of the body remains constant. At the heart of this classi?cation lies what is now known as Riemann's theorem: the angular velocity and circulation (i) lie in the same principle plane and (ii) if the angular velocity is parallel to a principle axis then the circulation vector must also lie along that same principle axis."" The founding members of the Berlin Circle were listed as sympathisers within the Vienna Circle.Dubislav focused on a logical and mechanistic foundation of mathematics and physics, influenced by Bernard Bolzano's ""Theory of Science"" (Wissenschaftslehre). He presented a formalised account of Gottlob Frege's theory of definitions.‎
