Albanel 1872 1 vol. relié gr. in-8, bradel demi-percaline ocre, 48 pp. Edition originale de ce discours prononcé dans l'église métropolitaine de Notre-Dame de Paris le 14 avril 1872. En 1871, alors qu'une partie du pays est occupée par les troupes allemandes, le Concile qui se tient au Vatican est interrompu et le pape, qui n’est plus protégé par les troupes françaises, se considère prisonnier dans la cité du Vatican. Le projet du Sacré-Coeur naît de la démarche spirituelle d'Alexandre Legentil et Hubert Rohault de Fleury. Ceux-ci font vœu de construire une église consacrée au Cœur du Christ pour restaurer les valeurs chrétiennes malmenées durant la Commune de Paris. Les promoteurs de la construction du Sacré-Cœur font appel fin 1872 à l'Assemblée nationale afin que l'édifice soit reconnu en amont comme étant d'utilité publique. C'était le seul moyen possible pour acquérir les terrains nécessaires, propriétés de la ville et de nombreux particuliers. Après des débats houleux, la loi d'utilité publique est votée et offre à l'archevêque de Paris, Monseigneur Guibert, la possibilité de se porter acquéreur des terrains sur la colline de Montmartre et par voie d'expropriation si nécessaire. Il est aussi prévu que l'église "sera construite exclusivement avec des fonds provenant de souscriptions". Rare.
