Magnifico carattere rotondo, molti passaggi in greco. Edizione originale di un veramente importante trattato, pseudo-aristotelico sui colori attribuito anche a Theoprastus e a Strato Lampsacenus, spesso confuso dai bibliografi con l'altra opera "de coloribus oculorum". Il filosofo napoletano Porzio (1497-1554) fu dottore in medicina e come il suo contemporaneo Pomponazzi tenne lezione all'università di Pisa. Si dedicò alla traduzione di molti saggi sull'argomento scritti da Aristotele, passò poi a meditazioni sulla natura dell'uomo, sul meterialismo e negò l'immortalità sotto ogni forma. Esemplare molto bello, nitidissimo e marginoso. Interessante traduzione di questo classico realizzata per l'universita' napoletana con il contributo e le notazioni di due dei migliori scienziati partenopei della prima meta' dell'ottocento. Palmieri (Paicchio 1807 - 1896) laureato in architettura divenne professore di fisica all'accademia navale, per lui venne creata la cattedra di fisica e metereologia. Nel 1854 e' nominato direttore dell'osservatorio vesuviano. Macedonio Melloni (Parma 1798 - 1854) prima pittore e incisore ma sempre interessato alla fisica e matematica, viaggio anche per motivi legati alle sue idee politiche. A Parigi realizzo importanti studi sul calore radiante (apprezzati anche da Faraday) in seguito, nel 1839 venne nominato direttore dell'osservatorio metereologico di Napoli, incarico dal quale venne destituito nel 1849 per motivi risorgimentali.

Prima traduzione italiana curata ed ampliata da Luigi Palmieri (Faicchio 1807 - 1896) e Macedonio Melloni (Parma 1798 - Portici 1854), tra i principali scienziati napoletani del tempo.
