Filled with forty-one plates. <br><br>Credited with bringing the British Museum's ancient collections in line with continental European museums. C.T. Newton was an archaeologist and vase scholar know for building major collections for the British Museum as Keeper of Department of Antiquities. Newton studied classical art from a scientific prospective and was one of the first to photograph archaeological sites and publish them. He also is known for discovering and excavating the remains of the mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
