Luschka 1866 präparierte Körper der mit 39 Jahren in Ulm gestorbenen Südafrikanerin "Afandy" war von ihm 1866 unter drei seiner Doktoranden aufgeteilt worden. Die anatomische Beschreibung des Gehirns übertrug er Julius Ludwig August Koch. - Koch (1841-1908) arbeitete nach der Promotion zunächst als praktischer Arzt, dann in der Psychiatrie und war von 1874 an Direktor der Württembergischen Staatsirrenanstalt Zwiefalten. - "Ich werde darzuthun bestrebt sein, dass der Mensch schon in den gröbsten Beziehungen seines Gehirns sich von den Affen unterscheidet, und dass auch in dieser Beziehung selbst das Buschweib zu dem Menschen gehört" (Seite 7). - Deutlich angerändert und etwas fleckig; sonst gutes Exemplar.‎
