Prima edizione di questa aspra requisitoria del famoso uomo politico e scrittore siciliano (Castrogiovanni, attuale Enna, 1847-ivi, 1921) contro le dottrine lombrosiane, da lui ritenute pressoché destituite di autentico rigore scientifico. "Sotto l'influsso del Turati, che aveva pubblicato a Milano nel 1883 un opuscolo su Il delitto e la questione sociale, in polemica con l'interpretazione deterministica del darwinismo e con le sue applicazioni in sede di antropologia criminale e di diritto penale, compiute da Cesare Lombroso e dalla scuola positiva di diritto penale, rappresentata in Italia dal trinomio G. Fioretti, E. Ferri e R. Garofalo, il Colajanni tentò un'interpretazione della genesi del delitto che privilegiava i fattori sociali, rispetto a quegli ambientali ed antropologici. Riprendendo le tesi di A. Wallace, secondo il C. accanto all'egoismo, e alla lotta per l'esistenza nella società opererebbe l'istinto dell'altruismo, cui si debbono le forme associative dell'umanità, dalle primitive alle più evolute. Prima edizione in lingua francese di questo studio del famoso uomo politico e scrittore siciliano (Castrogiovanni, attuale Enna, 1847-ivi, 1921) volto a comparare le razze anglosassoni e quelle latine e a discutere sull'eventuale superiorità o inferiorità delle une rispetto alle altre e negando, infine, la realtà di tali tesi. Il Colajanni discorre (polemizzando duramente con le teorie del "razzisno scientifico" dell'epoca) dell'eventuale esistenza di razze pure e non contaminate, degli ariani, dei temperamenti e dei caratteri fisici delle nazioni, della tendenza dei popoli latini ad autodenigrarsi, dell'evoluzione sociale dei diversi popoli europei, ecc. L'edizione originale italiana era apparsa a Napoli nel 1903. "L'argomento delle razze verrà ripreso dal Colajanni nel 1903, nell'opera Latini e anglo-sassoni. (Razze superiori e razze inferiori) (Roma; tradotto in francese per l'editore Alcan, e in spagnolo). Vi negava la superiorità della razza anglosassone su quella latina e negava la tesi, in voga presso gli epigoni "conservatori" del darwinismo, della differenza tipologica e razziale, basata su caratteristiche somatiche arbitrariamente generalizzate."
