Copernicus Banned The Entangled Matter of the anti-Copernican Decree of 1616
This book, consisting of nine essays on the causes, the protagonists and the consequences of the decree, sheds light on various philosophical, theological, political and cultural aspects of the discussions that arose around the ?temerity? of Copernicanism and that eventually led to its prohibition by the Church. These chapters form a mosaic whose pieces contribute to completing the picture outlined by other studies, while also adding new meaning to the overall scenario. Copernicus Banned. LA DONNA. IL SUO COMPITO SECONDO LA NATURA E LA GRAZIA
DISPONIBILITÀ GARANTITA AL 99%; SPEDIZIONE ENTRO 12 ORE DALL'ORDINE. BUONE/OTTIME CONDIZIONI GENERALI, LIEVI SEGNI DEL TEMPO. TIMBRI DI BIBLIOTECA ESTINTA IN ANTIPORTA. SOTTOLINEATURE A MATITA. RARO. Descrizione bibliografica Titolo: La donna. Eduardo Viveiros de Castro
Prospettivismo cosmologico in Amazzonia e altrove. Quattro lezioni tenute presso il Department of Social Anthropology, Cambridge University (febbraio-marzo 1998)
Curatori: Roberto Brigati. Prefazione: Roy Wagner.

Edward B. Tylor
ANTHROPOLOGY: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF MAN AND CIVILIZATION [Hardcover]
About the Book:-The present volume is an introduction to Anthropology, rather than a summary of all it teaches. It does not deal with strictly technical matter, out of the reach of readers who have received or are receiving, the ordinary higher English education. Thus except to student trained in anatomy the minute modern researches as to distinction of races by skull measurements and the like would be useless. Much care has been taken to make the chapters on the various branches of the science sound as far as they go, but the more advanced work must be left to special student. About the Author:-Edward Burnett Tylor FRAI (2 October 1832 – 2 January 1917) was an English anthropologist, the founder of cultural anthropology. Tylor's ideas typify 19th-century cultural evolutionism. In his works Primitive Culture (1871) and Anthropology (1881), he defined the context of the scientific study of anthropology, based on the evolutionary theories of Charles Lyell. He believed that there was a functional basis for the development of society and religion, which he determined was universal. Tylor maintained that all societies passed through three basic stages of development: from savagery, through barbarism to civilization.[2] Tylor is a founding figure of the science of social anthropology, and his scholarly works helped to build the discipline of anthropology in the nineteenth century.[3] He believed that "research into the history and prehistory of man could be used as a basis for the reform of British society. Tylor's first publication was a result of his 1856 trip to Mexico with Christy. His notes on the beliefs and practices of the people he encountered were the basis of his work Anahuac: Or Mexico and the Mexicans, Ancient and Modern (1861), published after his return to England. The Title 'ANTHROPOLOGY: AN INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY OF MAN AND CIVILIZATION written/authored/edited by Edward B. Tylor', published in the year 2021. EDWARD H. SPICER EDITOR WITH ESSAYS BY ELEANOR BAUWENS MARGARITA ARTSCHWAGER KAY MARY ELIZABETH SHUTLER LOUDELL F. SNOW
Ethnic Medicine In The Southwest
University of Arizona Press Tucson: 2016. Softcover. Brand new book. Health is a major concern to all people. In this volume four writers examine the medical arts of Yaqui Anglo Black and Mexican American communities to further understand the relationship between alternative and scientific medicine. Edward H. Spicer's informative Introduction sets the stage for comparing "popular" and "scientific" medicine. "Graduates of medical schools have been taught that their body of knowledge is the one true medical tradition. The world has many medicines and thousands of practitioners who do not believe that "Western" medicine is a universal cure-all. These practitioners may be as certain that what they practice is the one true medical tradition" says Spicer. In the communities studied the belief is that illnesses may be caused by overwork withcraft or sin and treatment may include herbs prayer or massage. Practitioners are successful and respected although they are not licenses in the legal sense. In these alternative medical traditions "Western" medicine may find a key to new growth and effectiveness. Ethnic Medicine in the Southwest is a fascinating look at commonly practiced arts that will interest not only ethnic and health services specialists but all those interested in cultural traditions.
