La "coscienza" è sinonimia di questo "ora" in quanto entrambi sono la trascrizione di una metafisica della presenza. "Ora-coscienza di": una rappresentazione compone la cognizione determinata da questa metafisica, tale è la condizione del nostro sapere. "Rappresentazione" di un sapere, un non-saputo appartiene al campo del sapere. Ogni sapere, infatti, è sapere che implica una rappresentazione di un non-saputo che esso istituisce in questo modo stesso che lo costituisce come sapere. Il sapere implica il pensiero di un "medesimo" dal momento che esso pone la questione del non-saputo in quanto tramite il solo sapere si pensa il non-saputo e poiché questo al-di-là di un sapere tramite il solo sapere implica necessariamente l'invocazione di un "medesimo".
