Recent social and technological changes are driving the emergence of new genres, the evolution of traditional ones as well as variation within them. In this volume a range of approaches addressing the evolution of genre are presented. Many draw on corpus analysis of the lexicogrammatical features employed in the communicative artefacts addressed; several extend traditional corpus analysis to include non-linguistic or extra-linguistic features involved in multimodal communication. Connections with social theories are discussed, as is the notion of families or groups of genres co-existing within broader constellations. Genres are examined in detail for their linguistic and non-linguistic realisations and forms of expression across related genres and within the ?same? genre when subjected to differing social or medial constraints or possibilities. ‎Gutes Exemplar. - Dieser zweite Band des Werks "Bild der Völker" gibt einen fesselnden Überblick über die Bewohner Afrikas südlich der Sahara einschließlich Madagaskars. Die meisten der dort heimischen Völker sind erst nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg aus der Kolonialherrschaft der Europäer entlassen worden, und die Frage, wie sie nun mit ihrer Selbständigkeit fertig werden, ist politisch und wirtschaftlich ebenso wie kulturell von großem Interesse. Dabei ist es wichtig zu wissen, von welchen Voraussetzungen die sehr verschiedenartigen Völker, Stämme und anderen Gemeinschaften ausgehen; dafür bietet dieser Band eine anschauliche Grundlage. Afrika südlich der Sahara ist ein unermeßliches Land mit sehr unterschiedlichen Landschaftsräumen. Es gibt auch südlich der Sahara Wüsten und Trockensteppen, aber auch tropische Regenwälder, endlose Savannen, schroffe unwegsame Bergländer, schneebedeckte Vulkangipfel, gewaltige Ströme und reizvolle Binnenseen. Nicht umsonst nennt man den Erdteil südlich der Sahara auch "Schwarzafrika". Die Mehrzahl seiner Bewohner sind Neger, neben ihnen leben Restgruppen von Pygmäen und Buschmännern. Aber auch eingewanderte Fremde spielen eine wichtige Rolle: Malaien aus Indonesien in Madagaskar, Araber im Norden und Osten, Inder im südöstlichen Küstenbereich, Weiße vor allem im südlichen Teil des Kontinents.
