Roberto Longhi. Percorsi tra le due guerre
br. Roberto Longhi (1890-1970) è stato uno dei più grandi storici dell'arte del Novecento. Questo libro vuole contribuire a guardare in modo diverso ai suoi due volti: quello dello studioso capace di resuscitare intere zone sommerse della storia artistica nazionale e quello letterario del «mago» e «artista», che ne ha sancito la popolarità verso un largo pubblico grazie ai pregi di una scrittura inimitabile. Per collocarlo nel tempo e nello spazio, il libro prende le mosse da un episodio, la conferenza sull'arte italiana e l'arte tedesca che Longhi tenne a Firenze nel marzo del 1941. In quell'occasione formulò una dura presa di posizione antirazzista. Allora l'Italia fascista era in guerra ed era alleata della Germania di Hitler: col tempo quell'uscita contribuì a legittimare l'immagine di un Longhi frondista. Davvero quella conferenza fu un gesto di rottura? Per rispondere a questa domanda occorre ritessere i «percorsi» di Roberto Longhi in quegli anni cruciali: sono quelli tra libri e musei alla ricerca delle giunture fra due culture figurative; sono quelli tra ministri, colleghi e allievi, che sollecitano la sua curiosità e le sue prese di posizione. Ne emerge uno spaccato di storia culturale del Novecento, osservato dal punto di vista di uno dei suoi protagonisti.

br. Il fil-rouge di queste conversazioni di Matisse con critici, letterati e religiosi, è il tema della danza. Dal 1909, quando dipinse il quadro oggi al MoMa di New York, che ha come pendant la tela della Musica dell'Ermitage, Matisse non ha mai sospeso la sua riflessione sulla danza, la musica e la ricerca - fino agli ultimi papiers découpés - del segno che fa danzare lo spirito dello spettatore. Il quadro di New York inscena un girotondo di cinque figure femminili e si regge su tre colori densi e profondi: blu per il cielo, rosa per i corpi delle danzatrici, verde per la terra. È una immagine dell'Eden, si chiedeva Pierre Reverdy, cogliendo in questo quadro tutta la "felicità" di Matisse, la joie de vivre? L'artista era convinto che la pittura dovesse dare serenità allo spettatore gravato dalle tante fatiche di vivere. Ma, come nota Maurizio Cecchetti nell'introduzione, questo balsamo della pittura leniva anzitutto il sentimento tragico che Matisse aveva della bruttezza che l'uomo del XX secolo ha portato nel mondo: orrori e morte che hanno sconciato quell'armonia che lega tra loro gli esseri viventi nella Creazione.

A few brownspots to lower margins. � First appearance of a major paper in the kinetic theory of gases in which Maxwell proved that the viscosity was independent of pressure as predicted and nearly a linear function of the absolute temperature T.<br>One of Maxwell's major investigations was on the kinetic theory of gases. Originating with Daniel Bernoulli this theory was advanced by the successive labours of John Herapath John James Waterston James Joule and particularly Rudolf Clausius to such an extent as to put its general accuracy beyond a doubt; but it received enormous development from Maxwell who in this field appeared as an experimenter on the laws of gaseous friction as well as a mathematician.<br><br>"James Clerk Maxwell published a famous paper in 1866 the paper offered using the kinetic theory of gases to study gaseous viscosity. The internal friction the viscosity of the gas is determined by the probability a particle of layer A enters layer B with a corresponding transfer of momentum. Maxwell's calculations showed him that the viscosity coefficient is proportional to both the density the mean free path and the mean velocity of the atoms. On the other hand the mean free path is inversely proportional to the density. So an increase of pressure doesn't result in any change of the viscosity. unknown
