An attractive view of the inner harbor of Delfshaven. This is an example of a "vue d'optique" or perspective view a popular print from the second half of the 18th century designed to be projected with a viewing device a zograscope or perspective glass which enhanced the illusion of depth and perspective providing something of a 3D effect. Like many prints of this type there is a title printed in mirror image at the top of the print since the print was reversed when projected and the coloring is broad. There is a most interesting and thorough article by C.J. Kaldenbach "Perspective Views" which was originally published in Print Quarterly June 1985 and is now available for viewing on the web. . unknown
