First edition. There have been many writings on the subject of Nova Scotian bird life but not a comprehensive work. With his own meticulous records the co-operation of other students of birds including his own pupils in the subject and with full access to the records of Harry Piers longtime Curator of the Provincial Museum Robie Tufts has produced a work which will be the standard around which later contributions will arrange themselves. That there will be additions and revisions is sure; he was reluctant to call the manuscript finished knowing that there would be additions by the time the book appeared and this has been the case. Tufts' book is finished and will not be superseded for some time though observations records and notes will be more numerous and general interest will be quickened because of it. Condition: Jacket spine ends rubbed and chipped edge wear with some chips and closed tears else a very good to fine copy in a very good jacket. Nova Scotia Museum hardcover
