Se ne consiglia pertanto la traduzione (rapida, se possibile, uno dei pregi del libro essendo l'attualità, nonché l'essere veramente aggiornato sugli ultimi progressi dell'etologia). "227 pagine di circa 2800 battute, stampate senza giustificazione. Pochi disegni al tratto. L'autrice è di formazione psicologa, specializzata in Comportamento Animale, che insegna a Reading, Inghilterra. Il libro è il testo di parte del corso di Animal Behaviour, che l'autrice tiene all'Università di Reading. È un'introduzione panoramica agli studi moderni sul comportamento animale (etologia), centrata in particolare sul comportamento sociale. Un proseguimento del libro di Mainardi nella "Biologia per i giovani". Il livello è più avanzato soprattutto perché c'è molto più materiale e un costante riferimento a lavori scientifici: il linguaggio è però semi-tecnico, largamente accessibile anche a principianti (è più o meno il livello della serie BM). Data la formula adottata -citare tutti gli studi interessanti e rinviare alla relativa bibliografia- il libro risulta leggermente noioso.
