Le pamphlet s'achève sur un "appel à la résistance" sous forme de pétition détachable qui, relayé par une campagne de presse, va rencontrer un large écho dans l'opinion publique.Des dizaines d'articles et plus d'une centaine de courriers de lecteurs enthousiastes sont conservés ici pour servir de dossier d'instruction. J'ai trouvé votre livre plein d'humour et plein de force et je me sens fier, d'être, si peu que ce soit, mêlé à des projets de protestation. J'aurais eu plaisir à aboyer sous les fenêtres du ministre de la culture (...) Je vous accorde que dans la somme des vices, des petitesses ou de la cruauté, l'homme dépasse tout. C'est le champion toutes catégories".L'écrivain et peintre-graveur René-Jean Clot dessine un amusant portrait-charge de Brenner avec un corps de bouledogue invectivant le ministre : "Lang aux chats !"
