Pertanto molto spazio è dato ai processi che in questi ultimi decenni tanta influenza hanno avuto per l’intero ecosistema terrestre come i cambiamenti climatici, la riduzione della diversità biologica, l’espandersi di nuove malattie pandemiche, il disagio crescente tra popolazioni separate da crescenti differenze di qualità della vita, e quindi gli effetti dei costrittori economici sugli ecosistemi. Lezioni di Ecologia, quindi, presenta in maniera «innovativa» l’ecologia come disciplina in grado di indagare la complessità della vita sulla terra, dove l’uomo con il suo agire conflittuale e contraddittorio sta modificando la maggior parte dei sistemi naturali. Almo Farina è professore ordinario di Ecologia presso la facoltà di Scienze Ambientali dell’Università di Urbino. Per UTET Libreria ha pubblicato Ecologia del paesaggio. "Ecologia e libertà" è un libro straordinariamente anticipatore. In esso la crisi della natura non si pone come esterna all'economia, alla società, alla politica; ne è semmai il volto estremo, il sintomo inaggirabile, l'ingiunzione cui non ci si può sottrarre procrastinando. André Gorz è tra i primi a chiederci di pensare la questione ambientale nella sua non-autosufficienza, nella sua impossibilità a spiegarsi da sé: essa dischiude infatti una crisi del produttivismo occidentale e del capitalismo industriale che possiede un'origine storica e che richiede una soluzione politica. Tale soluzione, peraltro, non fornisce alcuna garanzia sulla desiderabilità o meno del suo esito: il testo torna a più riprese sul rischio concreto di una deriva tecnofascista, cioè di una risposta autoritaria alle sfide ecologiche. Il degrado degli equilibri biosferici schiude infatti uno scenario fortemente polarizzato: alla tentazione dispotica deve far fronte un progetto sociale complessivo capace di coniugare la sostenibilità ambientale e l'autonomia individuale e collettiva. Le «verdi parole» cui rimanda il titolo sono quelle che, da differenti palcoscenici, costruiscono e trasmettono un'ideologia e un sistema di valori che potremmo definire «ecologista», ma che, nello stesso tempo, rappresentano in molti ambiti un alibi linguistico per pratiche invasive e spregiudicate. Il volume ripercorre le tappe della formazione di questo paradigma, dalla diffusione della formula "sostenibilità", fino alla valorizzazione dei comportamenti etici da parte dei cittadini, ai quali sempre più spesso è demandata la protezione dell'ambiente.
