Virginie ANCELOT - Marguerite-Louise Virginie Ancelot, née Chardon à Dijon le 15 mars 1792 et morte à Paris le 20 mars 1875, est une romancière, auteur dramatique, mémorialiste et peintre française.

Illustrés de nombreuses planches gravées hors-texte, dessinées par Virginie Ancelot. Les oeuvres réunies dans ces volumes : Dédicace, Marie ou trois époques, Isabelle ou deux jours d'expérience, Clémence ou la fille de l'avocat, Le chateau de ma nièce, Un mariage raisonnable (t.1).- Les deux impératrices ou une petite guerre, L'hotel de Rambouillet, Hermance ou un an trop tard, Marguerite -t.2).- Georges ou le même homme, Madame Roland, Pierre le millionnaire, Deux jours ou la nouvelle mariée, Loïsa (t.3).- Reine, cardinal et Page, Un jour de liberté, Une année à Paris, Le père Marcel, Juana, Un divorce (t.4).-1650g.C. -*** Ayant commencé sa carrière en tant que peintre, Virginie Ancelot expose lune de ses uvres au Salon de 1827. Entrée en littérature, elle écrit une vingtaine de pièces pour la scène parisienne, ainsi qu'une quinzaine de romans et deux ouvrages sur les salons de peinture.-Il n'existe que peu d'éditions de ses oeuvres.- Petites rousseurs, une mouillure dans la marge de quelques pages du T.II. Plats frottés, les dos sont en très bon état. Rare.

Germany. 1735- 1745. Engraving with mezzotint printed in color with additional handcolor plate mark 12 3/4 x 8 3/4 inches on sheet 13 x 8 1/2 inches. Very good clean condition. Plate No. 311 from Johann Wilhelm Weinmann " Phytanthoza Iconographia " printed on thick laid paper. Dunthorne #327 notes that plates from this work represent "some of the earliest examples of color printing from a single plate" many of them printed by a combination of line engraving and mezzotint. The initial S at lower right indicates the artist engraver Abraham Seutter ca. 1690-1747. . unknown
