‎Erste Ausgabe dieser naturkundlichen Reise durch Slawonien und isnbesonders die Gespannschaft Po?ega-Slawonien. - Horn/Sch. 17292 "sehr selten". - "Matthias Piller (1733 - 1788) was a Hungarian naturalist, zoologist, botanist and geologist. He was the founding Professor of Natural history at the University of Budapest where he maintained large collections of zoological, botanical and geological specimens some of which are in the Hungarian Natural History Museum and the Geological Museum of Hungary. In 1783 with Ludwig Mitterpacher he wrote `Iter per Poseganam Sclavoniae provinciam mensibus Junio, et Julio Anno MDCCLXXXII` published in Budapest. - Ludwig (Ljudevit) Mitterpacher von Mitterburg (1734 ? 1814) was a Hungarian agronomist, botanist, zoologist and entomologist. Mitterpacher was a professor of natural history in Budapest working with fellow professor Matthias Piller (1733?1788). He wrote `Elementa Rei Rusticae in Usum Academiarum Regni Hungariae` Budae: Typis Regiae Universitatis, Anno MDCCLXXIX and M. DCC. XCIV( 1779 and 1794), a study of the theory and practice of agricultural science. and in 1783 with Matthias Piller `Iter per Poseganam Sclavoniae provinciam mensibus Junio, et Julio Anno MDCCLXXXII susceptum` a 147-page work with 16 plates in which they described new species of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera"(Wikipedia Abruf vom 29.01.2024). - In 1783 Mathias Piller and Ludwig Mitterpacher described six species of birds from the Osijek region in today`s north-eastern Croatia as being new for science. A revision of the nomenclatural and taxonomic status of these nominal species revealed that five of them are junior subjective synonyms. They include Ardea obscura (= Nycticorax nycticorax), Charadrius illyricus (= Burhinus oedicnemus), Falco cinereus (= Circus macrourus), Falco rubiginosus (= Circus aeruginosus), and Rallus dubius (= Gallinula chloropus). The sixth form (Falco marginatus) is sometimes recognized as a valid subspecies of Accipiter gentilis, but its taxonomic identity within the latter species is uncertain. The type locality of all of these species is restricted herein to Korod, Croatia, where the type specimens were collected during 21 - 23 June 1782. - Titel mit mehrer hs.
