Theodor Geiger (1891-1952) war studierter Jurist und gilt in der Soziologie, für die er seit 1929 eine Professur an der TH Braunschweig innehatte, mit der hier vorliegenden Arbeit als Begründer der Schichtungssoziologie. 1933 emigrierte er nach Dänemark und erhielt 1938 in Aarhus den ersten dänischen Lehrstuhl für Soziologie, 1943 floh er vor den Deutschen ins neutrale Schweden und kehrte 1945 nach Aarhus zurück. In der vorliegenden Schrift befasste er sich neben umfangreichen Studien zur sozialen Schichtung auch mit wahlsoziologischen Forschungen zum Nationalsozialismus und prangerte dabei den "furchtbaren und primitiven Naturalismus der Blutsromantik" an, der "den Geist schlechthin" bedroht (S. 115). Der Vorderumschlag gering fleckig, sonst handelt es sich um ein gut erhaltenes Exemplar des Klassikers der Soziologie mit nur leichten Gebrauchsspuren.
