1832 MILITARY PRINT BRITISH ROYAL ARTILLERY OFFICER, SHAKO & SWORD, ECHOES OF WATERLOO
Hand Coloured Engraving 1832 : Royal Artillery Mounted Officer in Shako Post-Waterloo Dress Regulations
Published by Bell 3 Cleveland Row St. James's London 1832. Unframed Print. Very Good Condition. A single plate 15 x 24 cms with two pages of accompanying text. Preserved in a modern card cover prepared for practicality - an unassuming but serviceable presentation that favours function over finery. Issued in the wake of Britain's victory at Waterloo this 1832 hand-coloured engraving embodies the ceremonial pride and enduring prestige of the Royal Artillery in the post-Napoleonic era. Depicting the Correct New Appointments it serves as a vivid visual record of evolving military fashion and rank distinction capturing the formalization of dress regulations that followed decades of battlefield experience. The mounted officer resplendent in a shako headpiece and gold-trimmed uniform raises his sword in a gesture of command evoking the authority mobility and heroism associated with Waterloo-era leadership. This print not only reflects the stylistic refinement of the British Army in the 1830s but also resonates with the legacy of its artillery corps at one of history's defining battles. Size: 15 x 24 cms. Quantity Available: 1. Category: Antiquarian & Rare; Special Features. Inventory No: 373709. This item may require more postage than the rates shown for delivery outside the UK. If extra postage is required we will contact you before processing your order and you will be given the details and option to decline the extra cost. [OREGON -- WATERLOO FALLS EXCURSION].
A marvelous crisp boudoir sized albumen photograph of a Linn County brass band’s Sunday excursion to Waterloo Falls with band members in uniforms including one woman holding a cornet and surrounding onlookers.
Waterloo Falls OR: n.p. June 8 1890. Oblong 8vo. 1 boudoir sized albumen photo sized 8 x 4.5 in. mounted on studio board 8.5 x 5 in. w/ pencil annotations indicating location date and very faintly a few of the participants although without last names indicated minor toning shelfwear still VG bright image. At the time this photo was shot there was a concerted push by business leaders and local citizenry pushing for an electric excursion train to the Waterloo Falls 1889-1890 along the South Santiam River as seen by articles published periodically in the Lebanon Express newspaper. The image is a striking shot with the band members and family members strewn about seated on the rocks next to the river during late Spring runoff and the Falls. Contemporary images of Waterloo Falls and the South Santiam River area are fairly uncommon and the caption refers to Andrew John S.B. Walter and George standing near “me.†n.p., unknown
