Although William Thorne is given as the printer on the title of the almanac, the imprint of Strahan and Preston appears at the tail of the final leaf.

UNITED STATES. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Search or seizure of American vessels on coast of Africa, &c., message from the President of the United States, transmitting a report from the Secretary of State, in relation to seizures or search of American vessels, &c.
Washington: GPO, 1841. 766p, minor stains in the text, custom casebound in half calf with title gilt. A bit shelfworn, sound attractive copy. (Doc. no. 115, 26th Congress, 2nd Session) The volume contains the correspondence of the Van Buren administration with the British government, particularly Lord Palmerston, over the stoppage of American vessels suspected by the British of engaging in the slave trade. The Van Buren administration, with roots in the south as well as in Van Buren's home base of upstate New York, turned a blind eye to the trade (as had most American Presidents since the abolition of slave importation in 1807) in the absence of a strong abolitionist movement, which was just in its nascent state.
