Octavo 19.5cm.; publisher's cream card wrappers printed in orange and black; 118pp. Spine rather significantly cocked some wear to extremities; still quite a Very Good fresh copy of a scarce edition. A series of fictional conversations and debates between a student a "borghese" an anarchist-socialist a judge and a merchant. Divided into chapters the "characters" discuss a socialist constitution economics communism government laws and communist anarchism. The first ten conversations were written in 1897 before Malatesta fled Italy and were based on his experiences as the frequenter of "a café that was not usually the haunt of subversives such as himself.Anarchism would almost certainly have been one of the topics of conversation since the anarchists of the city Ancona constantly bombarded their fellow townspeople with a barrage of propaganda" Robin Healey "Italian Literature Before 1900 in English Translation" 0584 citing the 2005 translation. Only upon his return to Ancona in 1913 did Malatesta revisit the conversations publishing the first ten in his new journal "Volontà " though they were not fully completed until after the end of World War I in 1920 shortly before the author's arrest. Though his home was searched and arms and explosives discovered the manuscript was either missed or ignored and published in its entirey for the first time in this edition with a short afterword by Luigi Fabbri co-editor with Malatesta of the journal "L'Agitazione." Disegno a penna misure: mm 253 x 325 Pittore, disegnatore e restauratore italiano. Si forma all'Accademia di belle arti di Modena, diretta da Giuseppe Maria Soli. Succesivamente vince una borsa di studio e si trasferisce all'Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. Qui studia le tele caravaggesche e fiamminghe e si concentra sugli effetti luministici notturni e sul forte realismo. Dopo trasferte a Roma e a Venezia torna a Modena per riformare l'impianto e il regolamento accademico. Nonostante l'assiduo impegno didattico, il Malatesta non smise mai di essere anche artista, spesso assistito, per le numerose commissioni, da aiuti di bottega, tra cui il fratello Massimiliano e, più avanti, il figlio Narciso. Egli realizzò opere su esempi da Perugino e Raffaello, ma anche da Michelangelo della Sistina, da Tiziano, dai manieristi, Giulio Romano, Ammannati e Giambologna, sino a Velasquez e a Van Dyck e si misurò anche con la pittura storica, la pittura di genere e i ritratti. La scena rappresentata in quest'opera vede un giovane molto probabilmente malato accompagnato dal padre da tre francescani per essere guarito. Esemplare grafico eccellente. Tratto deciso e neri delicati danno risalto alle figure in primo piano mentre il paesaggio sullo sfondo è appena accennato. Ottimo stato di conservazione fatta eccezione per delle leggere fioriture. Firmato e datato a penna: "Malatesti Adeodato fece 1840" e dedica in basso a destra a penna: "All'Illust. Sign. Marchese Tacoli / estimatore dell'Arti Belle. Malatesti Adeodato / in attestato di sincera amicizia." Nel verso è presente a penna in antica grafia il numero "56". Bibliografia: Adeodato Malatesta. L'ultimo pittore di corte (1806-1891), 1998.

A series of fictional conversations and debates between a student a "borghese" an anarchist-socialist a judge and a merchant. Divided into chapters the "characters" discuss a socialist constitution economics communism government laws and communist anarchism. The first ten conversations were written in 1897 before Malatesta fled Italy and were based on his experiences as the frequenter of "a café that was not usually the haunt of subversives such as himself.Anarchism would almost certainly have been one of the topics of conversation since the anarchists of the city Ancona constantly bombarded their fellow townspeople with a barrage of propaganda" Robin Healey "Italian Literature Before 1900 in English Translation" 0584 citing the 2005 translation. Only upon his return to Ancona in 1913 did Malatesta revisit the conversations publishing the first ten in his new journal "Volontà " though they were not fully completed until after the end of World War I in 1920 shortly before the author's arrest. Though his home was searched and arms and explosives discovered the manuscript was either missed or ignored and published in its entirey for the first time in this edition with a short afterword by Luigi Fabbri co-editor with Malatesta of the journal "L'Agitazione." Le vicende della casata e della città di Rimini sono acutamente inquadrate nel più generale contesto della storia antica dell'Italia centro-settentrionale, mantenendo al contempo un piacevbole taglio di alta divulgazione. Un capitolo è dedicato al Tempio Malatestiano. Bibliografia e indici in fine. Il Bignami, nato a Torino nel 1873, ma di origine romagnola, fu studioso di storia locale romagnola e lombarda, e soprattutto delle vicende viscontee e sforzesche.
