A picture of this book is avai Mendelssohn p. 788: ". . . an interesting account of the country and its inhabitants. . . interesting account of Zimbabwe". The author, a medical doctor living in Jamaica, travelled 4,500 miles, mostly on foot over a period of 20 months, including many parts previously unexplored. "He never once found himself prompted to fire a shot in anger. . . he can say what perhaps no other man who has crossed Africa can - that of the many native carriers who travelled with him he did not lose one by death." (p. 6) An interesting and detailed account, the author was able to gain information as a doctor not available otherwise. The plates are very sharp and are not made from a screening process.
