Blazer was a leading figure in the 'Underground Camera' and the radical GKf group of documentary photographers. "Blazer's pictures are stolidly conventional in any case; the book's radicalism lies in its design and the way in which the images are incorporated into the total graphic package. One could question whether it is a photobook in the strict sense but it is clear that the book's primary message is carried by photography and the graphic design -however innovative- exists to provide a framework for the photograph's display and the book's ideological message. Collection of ca. 300 original b/w photographs in variant sizes depicting architectural motives in Nuremberg Munich Stuttgart Berlin Potzdam Warsaw Odessa and France spanning the 1930s 1940s and 1950s. The photographs vary in sizes from 2 1/4 x 2 1/4" to 9 1/4 x 6 3/4" - the striking photographs are taken and captioned by Adolf Emilius. The collection contains three photographs with Adolf Hitler. One with Albert Speer and Franz Struff another with Hitler in the Nuremberg opera house in 1937 and one showing Hitler at the construction site of the Zeppelinwiese.<br /> <br /> Starting with a section depicting buildings in Nuremberg and Stuttgart the album shows the German Garden Show the VW factory the German Toy Fair 1953 various city institutions and businesses from the 1950s. Professional settings like the Settlement Exhibition in Munich Ramersdorf 1934 one and two family homes in Nuremberg and surrounding areas by architects Fritz Mayer and Hans Kern including details like entrance lighting and flower windows. Siemenshaus in Nuremberg a border police station in Vorarlberg the Catholic church in Bludenz City Hall Nuremberg the Cathedral and the Arc de Germanicus of Saints the opera house and the dome in Aachen. <br /> <br /> A section of photographs of Berlin show the Shell headquarters the sculpture of the group of runners at the Olympia Stadion the Ufa Palace in 1938 decorated for the main event Riefenstahl's Olympia film. There is the iron construction of the ship draw works at Niederfinnow the Arcs de Triomphe in Brandenburg and Munich the Berlin Dome and the Charlottenburg Castle the broadcasting center the Haus der Deutschen Kunst and the State Opera in Munich the Sanssoucie castle in Potsdam and the Brandenburg Gate.<br /> <br /> Contains a group of four sepia-toned photographs of wooden buildings designed by the architect Julius Schulte -Frohlinde for the Olympic Games 1936 in Berlin. Some of these buildings Rheinlandhalle Berliner und Hamburger Halle depicted here were transported to Nürnberg after the Olympic Games and reassembled on the Nazi Rally Grounds in the northeast part of the city called the KdF-Stadt Kraft durch Freude City. They were used by the organization to entertain the attendants of the NSDAP Rallies in 1937 and 1938. The center of this city was a bell tower also depicted here playing the key note of the KdF every thirty minutes: "Freut Euch des Lebesn Enjoy Life." <br /> <br /> The second half of the photo-album contains some 120 b/w photographs incl. few photographic postcards depicting exteriors and interiors of buildings associated with Nazi institutions or events e.g. three photographs of models including of the Haus der Kunst München the Soldier Hall and High Command of the Army Dresden design W. Kreis and the Advanced School of the NSDAP at the Chiemsee design Hermann Giesler. It includes photographs of the exhibition "Siedlungsausstellung" in Munich showing the sample settlement Ramersdorf the epitomization of the National Socialist settlement idea. In short order 192 single family homes were built in the Munich district of Ramersdorf under the direction of the architect Guido Harbers. This is volume two of the Figure Photography Annual special issue published by Art Photography Magazine. Profusely illustrated throughout with the gorgeous b/w nude photography of Andre de Dienes 1913-1985 the noted glamour and fashion photographer who became among the most influential nude photographers of the era. Also includes reproductions of Dienes photomontage and rayograph work. Each image is accompanied by informative text and often a related illustrated sketch in b/w. There were at least seven annual issues of this special published before it became a quarterly issue known as the "Figure Quarterly". These books were presented as educational manuals on how to shoot the female form and were thus able to skirt the 1950s censorship laws.<br /> <br /> Wrappers with some light bumping to edges as well as some light creases and scratches. Interior with a few faint smudges and creases throughout. Spiral binding tight overall. Wrappers in good interior in very good condition overall. Protected by modern mylar. The major work on the legendary Russian-born Israeli dancer illustrated with a costumed Agadati in modern dance postures a troupe of dancers with stage scenery and including Agadati's choreographic notation of the Horah. 32 tipped-in prints of elaborately overpainted photographs drawings paintings and illustrated posters advertising dance performances one of which is designed in striking constructivist style artwork presumably by Agadati. Photographs by Avraham Soskin the quintessential "Tel Aviv photographer." No. 50 of a total of 100 published. Moderate age-wear to binding spine and top sunned. Moderate and sporadic foxing in margins. Text in Hebrew. Binding rubbed with fraying at top and bottom of spine both hinges started interior in good condition overall. Plates in very good condition. Agadati the renowned dancer and choreographer known for interpreting Jewish folk dances in a uniquely expressionist style is considered to be the central figure in the development of Israeli dance. He was also a painter early filmmaker and enthusiastic organizer of Purim festivals. Born in Russia in 1895 Agadati emigrated to Palestine in the early 1900s where he studied at the Bezalel Academy. During WWI he studied classical ballet and danced with The Odessa Opera Ballet Theater. After returning to Palestine he often gave solo dance recitals and introduced the Hora originally a folk dance from the Balkans which later became the signature dance of the Jewish people. Photo Archive Documenting Flood & Erosion Control and CCC Activities in Illinois 1920s-1930s
Collection of 179 snapshots documenting flood and erosion control projects on levees and farmland in the Illinois and Mississippi River watersheds in the 1920s and 1930s including the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps CCC in Illinois. The collection was assembled by Leon C. Craig a civil engineer who was employed by the State of Illinois Division of Waterways in the 1920s and served as a project supervisor at the Tuscola Illinois CCC camp in the mid-to-late 1930s. Craig was involved in a number of projects relating to flood prevention and mitigation and the promotion sustainable agriculture through better drainage systems. Several interesting early images show flooded rivers overflowing their banks and flooded towns; most document construction work levees culverts and other drainage infrastructure and topography relating to waterways as well as the grounds and men of the Tuscola CCC camp. Nearly all of the photos are in very good condition; a few have creasing or small chips. While there are enough captions on the versos to identify the compiler and some of the locations most are uncaptioned. Size ranges from 2.75" x 4.5" to 4" x 6". . unknown

Extremities gently bumped and rubbed; covers a trifle cocked; small stain to foot of text block. In the illustrated dust jacket with a large 2" creased and chipped closed tear to the bottom edge of the front panel. There is also a 1" slash to the surface of the front panel. Else the jacket is a bit rubbed and the spine is subtly sunned title still bold. The sequel to "Flying Saucers Have Landed." Polish-American George Adamski 1891-1965 was heavily involved in the California occult scene of the early twentieth century. Before delving into flying saucers Adamski created the Royal Order of Tibet religious movement in which he was a philosopher-guru.<br /> <br /> A first edition of Adamski's own story of what has happened to him since he wrote his best-selling book "Flying Saucers Have Landed" in which he described the memorable day in November of 1952 when he first made personal contact with a man from another world and was able nearly a month later to make photographs within 100 feet of the very saucer that had brought his original visitor. These photographs went on to become world famous. In "Inside the Space Ships" Adamski provides 16 photographs and illustrations of great space ships from which flying saucers are launched. The lion's share of these photographs was taken in April 1955 and neither the photographs nor a description of them has been published up until this book.
