De meesten kennen echter niet de ontwikkeling van zijn werk als geheel en de verrassende wendingen daarbinnen. Daarom tracht dit boek deze ontwikkelingen in vogelvlucht te schetsen en een beeld op te roepen van een kunstenaar, die een zeer eigen bijdrage leverde aan de Nederlandse beeldhouwkunst van na de Tweede Wereldoorlog.‎

In three sumptuously illustrated volumes, scholars of international standing present the distinctive style and the exciting history of Du Paquier porcelain in the context of Baroque Vienna. The first comprehensive publication on this important porcelain factory, this work has been made possible through a five-year research programme conducted by the Melinda and Paul Sullivan Foundation for the Decorative Arts. The objects shown, many of them for the first time here, are in major public and private collections. The first volume deals with the historical and stylistic background of Du Paquier porcelain: art and architecture in early eighteenth-century Baroque Vienna; furthermore, the history of the porcelain factory, its style and its manifold sources of inspiration as well as Du Paquier?s relationship to Meissen and the role played at Du Paquier by independent porcelain painters and decorators (Hausmaler). The second volume places this Viennese porcelain in its cultural context, providing broad-ranging information on court banquet ceremony as well as private pleasures such as drinking and festive dining. Objects used in aristocratic circles are shown along with choice presents of state made to the Ottoman and Russian courts. ‎New in the Photofile series, a mini-monograph on Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert. Born in Antwerp in 1941, Harry Gruyaert was a pioneer of European colour photography in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1972, he created TV Shots, a series of images created by turning the dial on a television set at random and photographing the screen. Later he travelled the world, seeking out different kinds of light and exhibiting a particular fascination with borders, interfaces and incongruous juxtapositions. A member of Magnum Photos since 1982, he describes colour as 'a means of sculpting what I see ... it's the emotion of photography.' Most recently he has begun to explore the experimental freedom offered by digital photography. Autonomous, non-narrative and often witty, Gruyaert's images are complex encounters with colour and light.‎

The decision of the gallery to curate the show not only with contemporary artists but to also include modern artists, testifies to the determination the gallery has to pave new pathways to foster new dialogues and share these dialogues with the public. Choosing to curate group shows with cross-pollination in media, genres, and generations, can create new ways in art and expand the existing dialogue of the works which inspires new styles, and different ways of creating and rethinking our ways of seeing. On the one hand, the title of the show, Let?s Go!, reflects on the gallery?s belief in art and its strength to overcome almost everything. It?s a phrase that leaves no room for doubt and proclaims its strong faith in art to the public, inviting them to join the party. On the other hand, the phrase also refers to the process of the artist. Each one of these artists knows how to surrender to their work. They have allowed art to fully consume their life and take a vital part in their existence. They allow the work to speak for itself. Therefore the gallery chose to respect this inner attitude of the works and place them in dialogue as such. They don?t need a thematic alibi to start up new conversations, they just need to be presented as intended by the artist to enter the public?s consciousness.‎

‎Jules Buyssens (1872-1958) is een belangrijke figuur in de wereld van het tuin- en landschapsontwerp in Belgi . Na een opleiding van een vijftiental jaren in binnen- en buitenland, die hij afsloot als bureauchef bij douard Andr in Parijs, cr erde hij meer dan duizend ontwerpen in Belgi en in een tiental andere Europese landen (Frankrijk, Rusland, Zwitserland, Nederland, Monaco, Polen, Litouwen). Hij legde parken en tuinen aan voor de internationale aristocratie en rijke bourgeoisie (prins en prinses Napol on te Ronchinne, de familie Solvay in Terhulpen en Brussel, B atrice Ephrussi de Rothschild in Monte-Carlo, gravin de Pourtal s in Zwitserland?), werkte in opdracht van verscheidene gemeentebesturen en bedacht tijdens het interbellum charmante stadstuintjes, die het pittoreske verenigden met de art-decostijl. Behalve initiatiefnemer van de beweging en het tijdschrift Le Nouveau Jardin Pittoresque was hij tevens ook de landschapsarchitect van de stad Brussel (1904-1937) en de verantwoordelijke voor het landschapsontwerp van de Wereldexpo op de Heizel in 1935.
