‎Édition de 1572 de l'abécédaire du calligraphe et religieux franciscain Vespasiano Amphiareo (1501-1563) dont dix-neuf éditions furent publiées entre 1548 date de l'originale vénitienne et 1620, toutes très rares. Titre traduit : Dans lequel on apprend à écrire diverses sortes de lettres, et surtout une lettre bâtarde trouvée par lui avec son industrie, qui sert le Cancellaresco, & Mercantesco. Puis il enseigne comment faire de l’encre noire avec une telle facilité, que tout le monde, aussi simple soit-il, saura le faire lui-même. Encore moudre de l’or, & écrire avec lui comme on le ferait avec de l’encre : de même pour écrire avec de l’azur, & avec du cinabre : tout dernier ouvrage, et bien nécessaire à l’usage humain. Il est dédié au Chevalier De Azara ambassadeur d'Espagne, devenu son conseiller et mécène. L'un des premiers chefs-d'Oeuvre de la typographie bodonienne. Petit in-quarto (170 X 246 mm) maroquin rouge à grain long, encadrement de dentelle et filet dorés sur les plats, dos lisse fileté, titre doré avec en queue la date d'impression et la mention «Bodoni», chainette dorée en queue, coupes et coiffes filetées, tranches dorées (Reliure de l'époque); (7) ff. dont titre, LXXXII-103 pages, (1) page d'achevé d'imprimer. Deux ex-libris gravés collés sur le premier contreplat.‎

‎MAGNIFIQUE ET RARISSIME ÉDITION DES ODES D'ANACRÉON. Elle est imprimée en grec cursif, avec les accents, sur les presses parmesanes de Giambattista BODONI. Ces soixante poèmes célèbrent l'amour, le vin, l'oisiveté et la gaité. Ce sont les seules oeuvres du poète grec du sixième siècle parvenues jusqu'à nous; imprimées pour la première fois en France en 1554 par Henri Estienne, elles avaient aussitôt suscité l'enthousiasme général et l'émulation de Ronsard et Du Bellay, et restent l'un des canons de la perfection lyrique de la poésie classique. UNE IMPRESSION DU CÉLÈBRE GRAVEUR ET TYPOGRAPHE ITALIEN BODINI : on assure que cette édition de Bodoni n'a été tirée qu'à 60 EXEMPLAIRES ; Brunet dit qu'il en existe au moins 112 exemplaires en papier ordinaire, et quatre à six en grand papier de Hollande. La page de titre contient une jolie vignette gravée d'un portrait de profil d'Anacréon. Cette édition est dédiée à José Nicolas de Azara (1730-1804), grand d'Espagne, qui fut longtemps ambassadeur à Rome, puis à Paris en 1798, et très actif dans la franc-maçonnerie ; la vignette gravée qui surmonte cette dédicace n'est pas la même que celle qui se voit dans l'édition de 1785 et les deux éditions de 1791, qui offrent toutes les trois le portrait d'Azara; tandis que celle-ci offre le génie de l'Espagne, sous l'emblème d'une femme assise, tenant une lance et un écu. Viennent ensuite des commentaires en 82 pages, puis le texte grec en 76 pages, et les leçons finissant à la page 103. «Il faut voir si le premier feuillet, contenant un avis de l'imprimeur, commençant par les mots"Pauca admodum", ne manque pas.» (Brunet). Notre exemplaire est non seulement complet du feuillet d'"Avis de l'imprimeur", mais il contient également les sept pages imprimées en caractère de civilité de la "Dédicace au roi de Sardaigne", présentes en tête du volume. UN DES RARISSIMES EXEMPLAIRES IMPRIMÉS SUR VERGÉ DE HOLLANDE, au filigrane «F.P.». Exemplaire provenant DE LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE DU COMTE D. BOUTOURLIN, figurant dans le catalogue de la vente de sa bibliothèque sous le numéro 26. Le comte possédait deux exemplaires de cet ouvrage, tous les deux en maroquin rouge, mais celui-ci seul possédait les feuillets de la "Dédicace au roi de Sardaigne". «Privé, par l'Incendie de Moscou, d'une des plus belles collections de livres connues en Europe, le fruit de trente années de peines et de recherches, M. le Comte Boutourlin a eu le courage de se remettre à l'oeuvre; et, continuant avec une persévérance sans exemple, il est parvenu à former une seconde Bibliothèque, plus remarquable encore que la première [...]. Il y a peu de bibliothèques d'amateurs qui présentent une réunion pareille de livres précieux, tant manuscrits qu'imprimés, et d'une aussi parfaite conservation : on y trouve des manuscrits très anciens ou richement enluminés, et quelques autographes, plusieurs éditions du XVe siècle inconnues ou d'une extrême rareté, des superbes grecs et grands-papiers parmi les Aldes, des éditions des Giunti inconnues, la collection des Bodoni complète, et celle des Classiques italiens d'une très vaste étendue; [etc.]».
