Includes the 'Dear Young Reader' letter with a facsimile of the author's signature - these letters were sometimes enclosed by the publisher in the volumes in this series. Original decorated pink cloth top edge yellow patterned endpapers. Illustrated by Robert Frankenberg.The cloth is bright and clean but there is some minor rubbing at corners and spine ends. The contents are clean and bright also with no inscriptions or other markings. The jacket is bumped nicked and torn along edges and the spine has faded. There is also a long crease diagonally across the rear panel and the jacket shows some light spotting and discolouration more generally. The jacket is now in a removable protective cover.
