Interessante pubblicazione presentata da Valdastri, scrittore e intellettuale modenese che insegno' e fu reggente del ginnasio mantovano, sulla cosiddetta tragedia cittadinesca o dramma urbano teorizzato da Diderot che mette al centro del dramma non piu' l'eroe, come nella tragedia classico-mitologica, ma 'le passioni buone e malvagie, le infauste debolezze, i consigli, i casi acerbi e spaventosi delle condizioni private' che agitano il cuore umano.

Also includes seven wood-engravings by Perrichon after designs by Naudin. Edition limited to 750 numbered copies, of which THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 25 COPIES BEAUITFULLY PRINTED IN BLACK AND RED ON FINE CHINESE PAPER. Squarish 8vo. Loose as issued in original wraps. Uncut, largely unopened, fine, and bright. Original folding case a bit worn but still structurally sound.

Bella incisione su rame di grandi dimensioni del 1770 circa tratta dalla famosa Enciclopédie de Diderot & D'Alembert. L'incisione rappresenta armi e macchine da guerra finemente rappresentati. TECNICA: Incisione su rame DIMENSIONI FOGLIO: cm 45x30 DIMENSIONI INCISIONE: cm 35x22 EPOCA: 1770 circa CONDIZIONI: Buone condizioni, qualche fioritura. Usure ai margini in barbe. L'enciclopedia delle arti e dei mestieri di Diderot e D'alembert è un importante opera di riferimento per scoprire le arti ed i mestieri del XVIII secolo. La prima edizione risale al 1751 quando fu pubblicato il primo volume. L'opera continuò ad uscire per anni fino a raggiungere i 17 volumi di articoli scritti dai più autorevoli studiosi del tempo: Voltaire, Rousseau, D'Alembert, Marmontel solo per citarne qualcuno. Le planches vennero alla luce 11 anni dopo la prima edizione dell'enciclopedia, dal 1762 fino al 1772 raggiungendo gli 11 volumi. Worn uncut edges. The encyclopaedia of arts and jobs by Diderot and D'alembert is an important work of reference to discover arts and jobs in XVIII century. The first volume of the first edition was published in 1751. The work continued to be published until it got the 17 volumes of articles written by the most important scholars of that time: Voltaire, Rousseau, D'Alembert, Marmontel just to cite some of them. The planches began to sort out 11 years after the first edition of the Encyclopaedia, from 1762 to 1772 until getting to 11 volumes. That's why it is very difficult to find a complete encyclopaedia of Diderot.
