Furia De Juventud The Subterraneans Collection of 6 Spanish language lobby cards from the 1960 US film
Beverly Hills CA: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer MGM 1960. Collection of six full color vintage lobby cards from the 1960 film.

From one perspective a fairly one-dimensional representation-perhaps even a caricature-of Beat culture but culturally fascinating in that it was made at the height of the Beat era with A-list talent by a top studio and until Walter Salles' 2012 adaptation of "On the Road" was the only feature-length film ever made from a Kerouac novel. Kerouac was paid $15000 by MGM for the rights to the book and bought his first home with the proceeds on Long Island.

A film that rarely screened today and has never been available on any kind of home viewing format. While its perspective on the actual Beat scene may be skewed or wildly misinterpreted it is nonetheless important as an interpretation of Kerouac's world from the outside looking in.

Shot on location in San Francisco California.

17 x 13 inches. Very Good with pin holes and a holograph ink notation to the recto of one lobby card. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer [MGM] unknown books

We the Living Noi Vivi / Addio Kira Two Spanish promotional flyers from the premiere of the 1942 Italian film
New York: Angelika Films 1988. Two Spanish promotional flyers for the premiere of the epic 1942 Italian film version of Ayn Rand's controversial 1936 novel. One flyer is full-color and in a handbill style the other cut to look like a book and opens to reveal the film's details along with the logo of the Spanish distributor Una Distribucion. "We the Living" was Ayn Rand's first published statement against communism and its very faithful adaptation by director Alessandrini released as two separate films caused a predictable stir all over Europe. The initial release never left the continent and was shuttered in a vault for over 25 years. It was then rescued by Rand herself in the late 1960s restored and had its US premiere at the Telluride Film Festival in 1986. Both flyers 4 x 6 inches. About Near Fine. Angelika Films unknown

I Was an Adventuress Original screenplay for the 1940 film

The story of a second-rate ballerina played by real-life ballerina Zorina who teams up with con men Erich Von Stroheim and Peter Lorre the three of whom hatch a plan to impersonate a countess in order to steal from high society. The plan inevitably goes awry when Zorina falls for and marries one of their marks and the pair blackmails her to keep the information secret. Lorre and Von Stroheim's comedic duo steals the show as well as the jewels upstaging the film's economically mismatched couple.
