An extensive collection of the works of French playwright and poet Moliere. Containing his books and plays among the most well-known are Tartuffe 1664 Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme 1670 Le Misanthrope 1666 and Les Amants Magnifique 1682.Jean-Baptiste Poquelin more often known by his stage name Moliere was a seventeenth-century French playwright and actor and is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers of the French language. This work contains many charming in-text illustrations by Tony Johannot. Also containing an introduction by French literary critic Charles Augustin de Sainte-Beuve. In half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally some rubbing to the head and tail of the spine joints and extremities. Shelf wear to the boards. One of the raised bands to the spine is absent. Internally front hinge is starting but firm. Volume is firmly bound. Some light tidemarks to the pastedowns and free-endpapers as well as to the top of the page from 731 to 808.
