Menu original format 16 x 10,5 cm, aux armes de la Reine Elizabeth, texte calligraphié du menu, rédigé en français : "Potage de Tomate à l'Estragon", "Truite de Rivière", "Poulet Reine Elizabeth ou Cornets de Jambon Lucullus", "Salades", "Galettes aux Fraises", "Roulade", "Mousse au citron", "Café. Friandises", "Moselle Brauneberger '43", 'Champagne Krug '45" / Original Coronation Luncheon Menu", 1953, with Queen Elizabeth coat of arms, size : 16 x 10,5 cm, Manuscript calligraphied text, with first mention of "Poulet Reine Elizabeth" and full text in french Scarce copy of this original "Coronation Menu". The text is handwritten, and some slight differences can be found in the calligraphy between each of the original menus. The Coronation Day banquet was served by Le Cordon Bleu London to 350 people. A Lily of the Cloister - Jeann-Marie Castang or Sister Marie-Celine of the Presentation, who died in the odor of sanctity at the age of nineteen, in the Monastery of the poor Clares of Bordeaux-Talence, France, now at Mons Belgium.
1 vol. in-12 br., b.&w. ill., Burns Oats and Washbourne Ltd., London, 1923, 236 pp. A very good copy (cover is slightly rubbed, otherwise a clean and nice copy) of this biography of Sister Marie-Céline de la Présentation (1878-1897), born Jeanne Germaine Castang. She was admitted into the Community of the Poor Clares at Talence, near Bordeaux, on June 12th, 1896 and died of turbeculosis a few monthes later. An aura of holiness surrounded her durign the end of her life. After her death, her burial place in Talence became a pilgrimage destination. Since 2006, her remains rest in the Parish Church of Nojals, near Bergerac (Perigord). Her beatification was celebrated in Bordeaux, in 2007. Anglais

This is that inestimable Book, which came from Heaven to direct mankind in their way [... ] Some vain Criticks and half wistler Philosophers have presumed to make objections the stile and propriety of the inspired authors, ; and the reason of their Impudence was not only wicked [ ... ] want of Genius, Languages and Heading to enter into their awful beauties, to discover the exalted sublimity of their sens and relish the beauty, Graces of their expression. [... ] of Dublin [... ]desired the above writing to be put into all the Bibles that were in his House. Blackwell on the [... ]". Below we can read this ms. lines : "The above is my mother handwriting", signed "Howden". Scottish-born printer and publisher in Dublin, George Grierson (1679-1753) was married to the editor and poet Constantia Grierson. Price in condition for this fair copy (lacking flyleaves, titlepage very weak, small worm galery on last leaves, binding rubbed with old restauration, very short margin on top cuting the pagination, used book otherwise good).
