Eines von nur 250 Exemplaren dieses monumentalen Werkes mit 521 Orig.-Graphiken von Max Slevogt, hier in der seltenen Vorzugsausstattung in rotem Maroquin. Der in Berlin einst von der Kunstkritik gefeierte "König der Illustration" setzt hier mit kongenialen satzspiegelsprengenden Graphiken Goethes Faust II in Szene. Blatt für Blatt der luxuriösen Ausgabe (jedes der 250 riesigen Folianten kostete in der Subskription 1400 Reichsmark ohne den Einband) verbindet eine Orig.-Lithographie Slevogts mit einem längeren oder kürzeren Textabschnitt. Seine Feder umspielt die Textkolumnen mit Faustischen Szenen, Girlanden, Blütenkelchen, Putten und Ornamenten zu einem einzigartigen Bilderteppich.
