London New York and Toronto: Hodder and Stoughton 1916 . First edition. Hardback. Very Good. 7.5" by 5". None. The scarce first edition of this work recording personal experiences of the trenches during the First World War. First edition of Life Amongst the Sandbags by Hugo Morgan in the original publisher's pictorial paper covered boards. A scarce work with only three copies held in libraries. A first hand account of the personal experiences of active service published as part of Hodder and Stoughton's 'The Soldier Books' series which was one of the earliest attempts to do so. Hugo Morgan was likely a pseudonym as there are limited records of anyone using this name from the infantry. In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some slight loss to the head of the spine. Internally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some light age toning. Very Good Hodder and Stoughton hardcover
