Ft. McClellan Alabama: Special Service Office 1944. Newspapers. Paper. Near fine. The Daily War Flashes published in 1944 at the Infantry Replacement Training Center at Ft. McClellan Alabama. This archive begins on D-Day June 6 1944 with Daily News Release #135 through #229 September 23 1944. Lacking only #227. All printed on newspaper stock with punch holes along top edge. Text in black title banner in red print. A few previously folded along center line. A scarce archive of the early Allied invasion of Europe for the infantry soldier in training at Ft. McClellan Alabama. During World War II Fort McClellan in Anniston Alabama was a critical U.S. Army training center. Established in 1917 the base expanded significantly during the war to train hundreds of thousands of soldiers primarily for the infantry. It hosted the Chemical Warfare Service preparing troops to handle chemical threats and was a site for Military Police MP training. The Women's Army Corps WAC also had one of its primary training centers at Fort McClellan. The base featured extensive training grounds including firing ranges and obstacle courses along with barracks medical facilities and recreational amenities to support the soldiers. Redacteur van beide bladen was de uit Gent afkomstige Gerard Lodewijk van der Macht ook wel: de Maght die mogelijk ook betrokken was bij eerder genoemde bladen van Rammazeyn en Breeckevelt. Van der Macht was net als de Breeckevelts een nogal assertieve courantier die regelmatig berichten over geheime staatszaken publiceerde en bij gelegenheid ook wel zelf politiek gevoelige nieuwsberichten verzon waarmee hij de autoriteiten in verlegenheid bracht. Het duurde even voor hij daarmee tegen de lamp liep ondanks het feit dat hij zich vanaf medio 1657 voor de zekerheid maar verborg achter de schuilnamen Anthony Benedetti en Anthoni Pietersz. unknown

This facsimile edition reproduces her handwritten colored-ink entries and accompanying self-portraits sketches doodles and paintings which fuse surrealism pre-Columbian gods and myths biomorphic forms animal-human hybrids archetypal symbols. Ardent entries and love letters mirror her obsessive devotion to her husband painter Diego Rivera. In his moving introduction Mexican critic/novelist/poet Fuentes relates Kahlo's images of pain loss mutilation and transcendence to Mexico's historic cycles of revolution and reaction. Lowe author of the study Frida Kahlo ably places the journal in the context of the painter's shattered life.
