Kennedy this book received wide aclaim when first published in 1967. It makes strong arguments that the sequence of events as the Warren Commission reported them were in error that the President was under fire from more than one direction and also makes several arguments regarding Lee Harvey Oswald's role in the events that day. The author Josiah Thompson was an investigative reporter working for Time-Life on the assassination and during his tenure for them had several opportunities to view a first-generation copy of the Zapruder film. He based his conclusions in the book at least four shots at least two shooters among others on a detailed study he performed on stills from the film. He was denied permission from Time-Life to publish copies of the stills in this original hardcover edition and had to rely on hand-drawn copies to support the points he makes in the book. This book is still accepted as one of the serious studies as opposed to the many sensationalist books of the assassination. Its conclusions and arguments have stood the test of time for over four decades and is considered a must-read among those interested in learning about the assassination. . Hill testified before the Warren Commission stating that she believed the shots had come from the Grassy Knoll and that she had seen a man running away from the Depository immediately after the shooting. She later identified this man as Jack Ruby.
