Catherine of Braganza 1638-1705 wife of Charles the Second was Queen of England Scotland and Ireland from 1662 to 1685. After she returned to Portugal as a widow she served as regent of Portugal in 1701 1704 and 1705. He was elected to the Académie Royale de Médecine in 1820. The author Adrien Jacques de Lens 1786-1846 was a botanist and doctor; he served as Inspecteur Général des Études pour l'Enseignement Supérieur de la Médecine from 1824 to 1830.
