Catherine of Braganza 1638-1705 wife of Charles the Second was Queen of England Scotland and Ireland from 1662 to 1685. After she returned to Portugal as a widow she served as regent of Portugal in 1701 1704 and 1705. Royer-Collard was also a professor of forensic medicine at the University of Paris where in 1819 he became the first chair of "médecine mentale." He was elected to the Académie Royale de Médecine in 1820. The author Adrien Jacques de Lens 1786-1846 was a botanist and doctor; he served as Inspecteur Général des Études pour l'Enseignement Supérieur de la Médecine from 1824 to 1830. In this series of letters written from 1869 to 1875 young American piano student Amy Fay 1844-1928 describes her experience studying piano with Franz Liszt Carl Tausig Theodor Kullak and Ludwig Deppe. She also recounts performances by Anton Rubinstein Clara Schumann Tausig Liszt the violinist Joachim and Wagner as a conductor. After her return to Boston Fay performed in recitals and taught piano; later she was the manager of the New York Women's Philharmonic Society.
