Johnston here argues on behalf of his client Ames that the "mountebanks of the press" have inflamed local opinion against his client and that in any event his client acted in self-defense without premeditation. The co-authors wrote this screenplay in 1991 after Streep starred in the 1990 biopic movie Postcards from the Edge with the screenplay written by Fisher based on Fisher’s own novel. The script was never produced. In subsequent books about either of the two co-authors the script has been labeled ‘forgotten’. Very few people have either seen it or read it. This copy is mechanically reproduced and was likely one intended to be sent to potential actors or directors. It is generally assumed that Steep and Fisher were going to produce it themselves and made very few copies as both authors became heavily involved in other projects and did not pursue its production.
