Fisher's National Magazine and Industrial Record Vol. 3 No. 6 November 1846
New York: Fisher's 1846. Softcover. Fair. Approx. 6 x 9-1/4" in printed wraps pp. ii 1 498-592. Wraps quite chipped rear wrap and the final signature detached from the sewing block but internally clean and bright; a bookseller's yellow stamp has been affixed to the upper wrap. Fair but serviceable. Published monthly beginning in June of 1845 and ending with this issue November of 1846 Fisher's was put forth according to Sabin "as a rival to Hunt's merchant's magazine." There is some evidence however that Hunt himself was an early subscriber. At any rate the magazine provides a fascinating snapshot of the economic and trading aspects of the United States as it began to situate itself in world commerce. Among the topics in this issue: British Navigation Act and Colonial Privileges; Wages of Manufactures in Continental Europe; Depression of English Laborers; State of the Banks in the United States; Progress of Industry in the United States.
