April 1553 in Paris) war ein französischer Schriftsteller der Renaissance, Humanist, römisch-katholischer Ordensbruder und Weltpriester, als Mediziner praktizierender Arzt sowie Dozent. Er gehört zu den bedeutendsten Prosaschriftstellern der französischen Literatur, bekannt ist vor allem der Romanzyklus Gargantua und Pantagruel geblieben. ? Composés nouvellement par maître Alcofrybas Nasier (deutsch "Die schrecklichen und entsetzlichen Abenteuer und Heldentaten des hochberühmten Pantagruel, König der Dipsoden, Sohn des großen Riesen Gargantua. Neu zusammengestellt von Meister Alcofrybas Nasier" - ein Anagramm aus Francoys Rabelais).
